Clean up the AI side when you stop or replace a connection

Revoking a token does not remove the registration left in Claude Code or the Claude app; it stays behind as a connection that cannot connect. Remove it yourself.

When you stop using it

  1. 1Revoke the token (or permission) under Manage connections on the Connect screen.
  2. 2Remove the registration on the AI side ("Remove it from Claude Code" and "Remove it from the Claude app" below).

When you replace the token

  1. 1Issue a new token on the Connect screen and register again with the command it shows. To reuse the same name, remove the old registration first.
  2. 2Revoke the old token under Manage connections.
  3. 3Open a new Claude Code session and check that it connects.

Remove it from Claude Code

  1. 1In the folder of the repository where you registered it, run claude mcp remove <name>. Check the name with claude mcp list (an old-style connection with the token in its URL prints the token too, so do not run it while sharing your screen).
  2. 2If the same name is in two places, the command stops. Name the place with -s local (this repository, just for you), -s project (.mcp.json) or -s user (all your repositories).
Removing the connection for the board "shop"
claude mcp list
claude mcp remove vondet-shop
claude mcp remove vondet-shop -s project # when it is in two places

If Claude Code asks you to sign in again from /mcp after you revoke, do not sign in if you want to keep using a token (it would be replaced by a permission connection); remove the registration and register again.

Remove it from the Claude app

  1. 1Remove this board's connector in Settings → Connectors, and also revoke that app's permission under Manage connections on the Connect screen.

Other AI apps and your shell history

  1. 1In other AI apps, delete this board's connection from that app's MCP settings.
  2. 2If you typed the token in when registering, it is also in your shell history. See "Registering a token without leaving it in your shell history" for how to remove it.

Caution

If a token may have leaked, revoke it before cleaning up the AI side.
